WRTA – Building the Future of Operations

The WRTA is building a new facility to house its growing operational and maintenance needs. The expected start date is June 2014 with completion expected in early 2016. The location of the facility is 42 Quinsigamond Avenue and replaces our current location of 287 Grove Street. The site is located on 11 acres and the building’s square footage is 150,682 which will include bus storage and maintenance, operations, administration and dispatching along with available parking. Major funding for this project came from the Federal Transit Administration and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

One Friday, June 6, 2014, the Worcester Regional Transit Authority held a Groundbreaking Ceremony for its Maintenance and Operations Facility at 42 Quinsigamond Avenue, Worcester.

“We (FTA) knew we were dealing with a partner (WRTA) we could count on and we were so impressed. The WRTA will have a great facility and we will be there with them along the way.”Mary Beth Mello, Regional Administrator, Region 1, Federal Transit Administration
