To be sure, no one is going to hold a parade — unless it’s a parade of buses — when the Worcester Regional Transit Authority completes work on its $60 million dispatch center and garage on Quinsigamond Avenue.
But last Friday’s groundbreaking for the project is worth note, for it moves the WRTA a step closer to closing the antiquated Grove Street facility that has housed its fleet for so many years. Years of thinking, planning and permitting have finally come (nearly) to a close. Assuming the WRTA receives the permit it needs at next week’s meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals, the project will soon be under way.
