MILLBURY_ As people are starting to gear up for the upcoming holidays, so too are retailers across the region. In preparation for the holiday season, full- and part-time seasonal employment is available from many of the retailers at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley, in Millbury. On Thursday, Nov. 6th from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., there will be a Job Fair at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley. The fair is sponsored by Workforce Central Career Center, the Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA), and The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley.
Roundtrip bus service is available on the new Bus Route 20, which offers express service from City Hall in Worcester (Franklin Street) to The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley. The WRTA instituted this new route after it received a Federal Transit Administration Grant, the Job Access Reverse Commute Grant. The purpose of the Job Access Reverse Commute Grant is to provide funding for local programs that offer job access and reverse commute services to provide transportation for those individuals who live in the city and work in suburban locations. The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley host over 50 retail stores and restaurants.
“Bus Route 20 is the perfect way to get to the job fair,” said WRTA Administrator Stephen O’Neil. “This service also offers those individuals who find employment at The Shoppes, the means to be able to get there and back.”
The service (Bus Route 20), which went into effect on Oct. 4, runs seven-days-a-week from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and weekends from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. The service runs on the hour from Worcester and on the half hour from The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley. Fare cost is $1.50 each way.
