WRTA Customer Bulletin: Snow Removal Update
According to GoldenSnowGlobe.com, the City of Worcester officially became the Snowiest city in the United States as of 2-9-15 with a season total of 90.1 inches. It’s hard to believe Worcester is ahead of Buffalo, NY by 5+ inches!
Because of this enormous amount of snow, the city now has massive snow piles at most major intersections making for poor visibility and decreasing lane width on public right – of – ways. With this decreased lane width, coupled with the same amount of traffic volume, it is very difficult to maintain a normal bus schedule.
Additionally, WRTA bus stops and shelters are buried in snow. The WRTA will continue to remove snow from all its shelters and from the bus stops in the downtown area. For those stops beyond the downtown, the WRTA appeals to the public to remove the snow.
The WRTA values your ridership. We ask for your patience as we make every effort to safely provide our service to you with as few delays as can be expected given current winter conditions.
Thank you for your continued support of the WRTA.
