WORCESTER — The Worcester Regional Transit Authority today broke ground on a new facility where it will store, repair and dispatch the area’s bus fleet. The event comes after more than four years of efforts to relocate its operations center from 287 Grove St. The new facility carries a price tag of an estimated $60 million, including $39 million in federal funding. The state also pitched in funds to deal with contaminated soil at the site, which proved to be the biggest hurdle for the project so far, said WRTA Administrator Stephen F. O’Neil.
