Worcester _ The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) will hold public meetings at the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission, Union Hall, Suite 200, Union Station, Worcester, to review the recently completed WRTA Regional Transit Plan. The plan, which was drafted in response to requirements of the Transportation Finance Bill passed in 2013, identifies the WRTA’s existing service and explores local markets with potential ridership.
The meetings, scheduled for August 18, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. and August 19, 2015 from 5:30 – 6:30, will give the public an opportunity to comment on recommendations made to improve service operations, which remain the same as draft recommendations that were presented to the community in May.
According to the WRTA, these recommendations were prepared by the WRTA’s consultant; the WRTA will not implement any recommendations until more review is done and public input on details of potential changes is received at future public meetings.
All meetings are open to the public and are accessible to individuals with disabilities and limited English proficiency. Requests for reasonable accommodations and language assistance can be made by calling 508-453-3455 or via email at Paratransit@therta.com. The WRTA encourages that requests be submitted at least ten business days prior to the scheduled meetings.
The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) is a regional transit system that services the City of Worcester and the surrounding 37 communities in the Central Massachusetts area with a bus fleet that includes diesel-electric hybrid buses and electric buses.
