Proposed Service Changes

Weekday Service Changes

Route 8 — All inbound schedule times will be adjusted to accommodate electric bus recharging.

o   Reason: Existing schedule does not allow for proper bus charging time thus effecting on-time                performance.

Route 11A — Suspend service for summer months.

o   Reason: Route is not performing well and competes with Route 4 in the Green Island neighborhood. Potential for total elimination at a future date.

Route 18 — Suspend service for summer months.

o   Reason: Route operates for academic year only and service will be re-established in late August 2014.

Route 24A — Suspend service for summer months. Re-direct some regular Route 24 trips into Seabury Heights and Green Hill Towers.

o   Reason: Traffic volume on Belmont Street in summer months is lower and service can be provided with regular Route 24.  Route 24A service will be reestablished in late August 2014.

Saturday and Sunday Service Changes

Route 7 — Additional time will be added to the mid-day run schedule to maintain on-time performance.

o   Reason: Mid-day trips are running consistently late and the additional time will help maintain on-time performance.

Route 12 — Elimination of route

o   Reason: Ridership is low and competes with re-established Route 19-23 interline.

o   Recommendation: Allocate resources into existing WRTA routes as follows:

  • Saturdays — Increase start times on Routes 1 and 2; provide a new inbound trip at end of service on Route 2 and provide evening service on Route 4 to the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley.
  • Sundays — Provide additional trips on Routes 5 and 27

Route 19 — Additional time will be added to the mid-day run schedule to maintain on-time performance.

o   Reason: Mid-day trips are running consistently late and the additional time will help maintain on-time performance.
