The March 20, 2018 public meeting at the Worcester Public Library has been changed to start at 4:00pm to accommodate the Funding for Public Transit Committee’s rally at City Hall from 5:00-8:00pm.

The WRTA will hold Public Meetings to obtain public comment regarding proposed routing and schedule changes to certain bus routes that would go into effect at the end of June, or August 2018.

Please note that the following route and schedule changes are PROPOSALS at this time and are not final until voted by the WRTA Advisory Board. 

Proposed Changes:

Route 1: Reduce service to 8 round trips per weekday.

Route 4: Reduce service to 7 round trips per weekday.

Route 7 : Reduce service from 2 buses providing 30 minute service all day to a portion of the day receiving 60 minute service.

Route 14: Eliminate route OR reduce service to 1 bus every 60 minutes from 2 buses providing 30 minute service from 7:30 AM to 3:35 PM per weekday.

Route 15: Reduce service to 8 round trips per weekday.

Outer Loop: (Routes 16 and 31)  Reduce service to 2 buses approx. every 80 minutes from 4 buses every 40 minutes.

Route 24A extra: Eliminate the extra trips between 12:30 and 4:30 PM that provide relief to other Route 24 trips.

Route 25: Eliminate route.

Route 33: Reduce service; no longer serve past East Brookfield Courthouse.

Route 40: (Hub Loop) Eliminate route.

Community Routes (29, 33, & 42): Eliminate all Community Routes OR Eliminate Saturday service on Routes 29 and 42.

Saturday Service: Eliminate Saturday service OR Reduce Saturday service to Sunday service levels, 13 routes in operation each Sunday.

Sunday Service:  Eliminate Sunday service.

Potential No Cost Service Options: 

Route 1: Adjust schedule times for better on-time performance. Re-route to enter Granite Street from Winthrop Street on both in and outbound trips, versus using Holcombe Street.

Route 3: Break the interline between Routes 3 and 30.

Route 5: Break the interline between Routes 5 and 27. Provide service to Broad Meadow Brook on Massasoit Road.

Route 6: Break the interline between Routes 6 and 30.

Route 14: End the route at Quinsigamond Community College. Interline with Route 3.

Routes 14, 24, or 30: Re-route either route to provide service to Main Street north of City Hall.

Outer Loop (Routes 16 and 31): Adjust schedule times for better on-time performance.

Route 19: Reduce Saturday service to Worcester only.

Routes 19, 23: No longer provide service to the WRTA Hub.

Route 27: Break the interline between Routes 5 and 27.

Route 30: Break the interline between Routes 3 and 30, and Routes 6 and 30.

New Route: New route to provide limited trips to North High School and Ecotarium on Harrington Way. New route would be interlined with Route 3.
