No one likes to wait for the bus, but that could change Saturday when the Worcester Regional Transit Authority’s new hub opens.

Riders will be able to make high-tech checks of arrival and departure times. They’ll have a roomy indoor option for cooling their heels, complete with a Dunkin’ Donuts. They’ll be able to put money on their Charlie Cards at machines, or speak to a customer service rep about their route. And travelers going longer distances will be able to get to their intercity bus or train platform quickly.

The somewhat disjointed system Worcester-area bus users have been accustomed to is being integrated into a single state-of-the-art spot alongside Union Station. Previously, the customer service center was at 317 Main St., the WRTA administrative office was at 287 Grove St., and the de facto hub for riders was the area in front of and across the street from City Hall.
